DOT acclaims La Union’s efforts for tourism development

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) presented its Tourism Development Plan to the Department of Tourism-Region 1 (DOT-R1) and to the core members of the provincial tourism planning committees of other provinces of Region 1 during the Tourism Development Planning Year-End Assessment and Intervention Workshop on December 18 to 19, 2018 at Java Hotel, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The planning committees of the four provinces presented their accomplishment and utilization reports for the financial assistance provided for the plan formulation.
Adamor L. Dagang, La Union provincial tourism officer, presented the highlights of the Local Tourism Development Planning Writeshop for LGUs as well as the next steps to be undertaken to accomplish and implement future plans and projects for the development of the province.
The PGLU’s five Circuit Plans and the Provincial Tourism Master Plan were completed earlier this year. In La Union, four LGUs have already finished their LGU Master Plans, while three are nearing completion. Thirteen LGUs have produced drafts of their Tourism Plan.
For transparency, the year-end assessment activity aims to validate the actual status of plan preparation and to determine the technical assistance still needed by the provinces.
The tourism key players work hand in hand for the development, promotion and sustainability of tourism in Region 1 which is also essential in positioning La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
