Flowers for you

The moment you receive flowers from someone dear to you, it brings smile on your face, isn’t it? Giving flowers may symbolise sadness and happiness. It is actually a form of communication in the 1800s.

The meaning of flowers depends on their color. Pink means “I’ll never forget you”; red says “my heart aches for you” and openly expresses feelings of love; purple conveys capriciousness; white is for the “sweet and lovely”; yellow expresses romantic rejection; and a clover says “think of me.”

This is the time of the year that the flower industry is in boom, starting this November until the month of May. Why do I say so? Flowers on November for All Souls Day, decoration of red flowers during Christmas on December while February is the Hearts Month and March to May brings graduation day, wedding, christening and etc. The months of giving out flowers almost occupy the whole year so flower farmers must be all smiles.

Farmers nowadays prefer to plant flowers rather than vegetables because of the simple reason that vegetables do not have any stable standard price. Vegetables change price every now and then, unlike flowers that will take weeks and even months before the price changes. That’s why sometimes farmers in Benguet Province adjust also for them to meet their needs and the demands of their market. As you have noticed when you come to Strawberry Valley La Trinidad, farmers do not only plant strawberry on that area but they also plant vegetables and flowers so that when they fail to selling their vegetables on good price they still have flowers and strawberry to give them back their income and then their income continually comes all year round because of the varieties of plants.

The income on flowers is really big but your health is at risk because the fertilizers used on flowers can destroy your lungs just like the fertilizers on vegetables. That’s why flower farmers are searching for a better alternative to spray on their plants just like what they have discovered on vegetables.

When things get rough sometimes, there are flowers to enlighten your mind. In business, there are ups and downs. These Ber months will be good but rainy season will be doom. So you must have plan B and C when things get messed up along the way. In Bible (KJV) Luke 11:9 “And I say unto you, ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Put God in the center of everything.
