Former Brgy. Chairman In Abra Capital Town Gunned Down

Bangued Abra  – Armed men dragged away and eventually gunned down a former barangay chairman in Bangued, Abra’s capital town past midnight Thursday.
Former Bañacao barangay chairman Robert Buenafe Millare, 39, was reportedly sleeping at a kiosk at the back of the house of villagemate Sergio Bersalona, when his companions were awakened at around 12:50 (April 3, 2020) from a commotion and a nozzle of a gun was pointed on their heads.
The armed men reportedly spoke in Filipino warning, “Huwag kayong gagalaw kundi kaklabitin ko to!”
Millare, also at gunpoint was dragged outside the kiosk and brought him away.
After a few minutes, Millare’s companions heard several gunshots prompting them to seek help from neighbors and the police.
Responding policemen headed to the direction where the gunshots were heard and found Millare sprawled at the sandy area near Abra River, more or less 500 meters away from the kiosk where he was held at gunpoint.
Police Inspector Raquel Alonzo, Abra police spokesperson said they are still digging deep into what prompted the killing and could not give any conclusive statement yet.
