CARAA Meet 2025: A Week of Sportsmanship, Fighting Spirit

Despite the gloomy weather, the closing ceremony of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2025 was filled with smiles and celebration as delegates gathered at the refurbished Benguet Sports Complex to mark the event’s conclusion. The program began with a solemn prayer. Board Member Joel B. Tingbaoen Jr., who represented District 2 Benguet in place of Vice Governor Ericson Felipe, expressed gratitude to the teachers, athletes, and trainers for their dedication and efforts throughout the competition. “So live long, prosper, and inspire your faith, sportsmanship, and unwavering spirit,” he remarked.
Before awarding the winners, organizers took a moment to honor stakeholders whose contributions were helpful in the event’s success. Special awards were given to recognize their unwavering support and commitment. The ceremony then proceeded to recognize delegations that excelled in specific categories. For the Most Disciplined Delegation, Tabuk City claimed first place, receiving P 20,000 and a plaque for their exemplary discipline. Kalinga placed second with P 15,000, while Ifugao secured third with P 10,000. In the Cleanest, Greenest, and Eco-Friendly Billeting Areas category, Baguio City won first place for their environmental efforts, earning PHP 20,000 and a plaque.
Ifugao took second place with PHP 15,000, followed by Kalinga in third with PHP 10,000. And for the Best Billeting School, Lucban Elementary School was awarded first place receiving PHP 20,000 and a plaque. Puguis Elementary School earned second place with PHP 15,000, while Lubas Elementary School and La Trinidad High School shared third place, each receiving PHP 10,000. The announcement of winners was met with cheers from delegates, particularly from Baguio City’s contingent. As the event drew to a close, participants reflected on their experiences.
Dean Clyver D. Equinio, a boxing gold medalist in secondary boys flyweight division, shared how CARAA shaped his athletic aspirations. “Dito ko po na-determine yung future ko bilang isang atleta… kung ano yung magiging epekto nito sa future life ko.” Meanwhile, Abra Chess Team coach Melinda Cabanaoan emphasized the importance of perseverance “Continuous practice lang dapat; hindi sila mag-stop na maglaro. Tutulungan ko silang i-analyze yung mga mistakes nila para mag-improve.”
The recently concluded CARAA meet was not only a celebration of athleticism and camaraderie but also a testament to the dedication of its volunteers, the unsung heroes who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event’s success. Volunteers also played a vital role in ensuring the event’s success. .Lhexy Nicole Tindaan, a student volunteer from Benguet National High School, highlighted the challenges they faced but expressed pride in contributing to the event. “We have the heart… we love helping people here in Benguet. Nag volunteer po ako because we wanted to help not just as a student from Benguet National High School but as a Cordilleran ah citizen na din po.”
