HIGH SCHOOL BATCH ALUMNI, CONDUCTED OUTREACH PROGRAM IN A REMOTE BARANGAY IN MT. PROVINCE

BESAO, Mt. Province – Residents and students in the remote area felt very happy, when they were surprised by an outreach program of Saint James High School Batch 1998 & ’99, on August 13 held at Pangweo Elementary School, Maliten, Tamboan, Besao Mt Province. Sitio Maliten with 56 households, is one of the farthest barangays of Besao,
which is traveled for three hours due to the rough rod and muddy road and only one passenger jeep travels here every day.

A total of 60 food packs, 52 bags of school supplies, 50 dental kits, 60 packs of candies, assorted stuff toys and
clothing’s were distributed to the children and parents during the event Other services brought to the community were dental extraction in which 32 availed the dental services. Likewise, a feeding program was conducted in
which the children, parents, teachers, LGUs and other people who attended the said activity were served with nutritious fried chicken and arrozcaldo.

According to Khrezilda Ngoaban, one of the organizers of the outreach, they have planned to do an outreach program three times, but it was always postponed due to the recent typhoon that damaged the road and was postponed
again due to the recent earthquake. Here, their mission was successful with the help of those involved in the program
such as Dr. Gayle Contero, who performed the dental extraction and conducted a short lecture on oral hygiene.

The group also thanks the Besao Municipal Police Station for being their partner in the feeding program; the local
government units, teachers who helped to encourage the residents to participate in the program. “Bringing smile and
happiness to others is really heartwarming and we also thanks the sponsors who helped make this program historic,” Ngoaban said.
