KIANGAN, Ifugao (PIA)
The Ifugao District Jail (IDJ) brings joy to 38 daycare learners in Mungyang in the town of Kiangan through an outreach program. Activities provided include a read-a-book session, feeding program, and the distribution of hygiene kits. Information drive and distribution of info materials were also conducted for the parents and guardians of the learners in line with ending local communist armed conflict by empowering and educating communities. Senior Jail Officer IV Roque Domaniw shared that this community relations service
program is an initiative of the IDJ personnel. Since the program has no dedicated budget, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel contribute their own resources, along with support from partner agencies, organizations, and individuals to realize their objectives.
Daycare teachers from the three sitios in Mungyang expressed their gratitude to IDJ for choosing their barangay for the activity.
Florentina Caliawen of the Mundaliong Day Care Center and Grace Puguon of Nabunlan DCC thanked the IDJ team for dedicating their time to teaching and bringing joy to the children. They also appreciated the generosity extended to the young learners. Puguon hopes that more learners will benefit from similar programs in the future. Meanwhile, Regina Baguilat of Dadi DCC looks forward to more outreach initiatives in their barangay, noting that this was the first time such an activity was conducted in their community. The Community Relations Service is a jail-community relations programs to foster collaboration between the jail, media, and the community. It also coordinates with government and non-government organizations to develop partnerships and encourage public involvement in jail activities through various media platforms.
