DOLORES, Abra, May 22 (PIA) – The Kalipunan ng Liping Filipina (KALIPI) Dolores Municipal Federation has put up its own “KALIPI Sari-Sari Store” out the total proceeds and profits raised from their KALIPI rolling market during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period in the province.
Out of the Gender and Development (GAD) funds provided by the local government unit (LGU) through the initiative of Mayor Conde Turqueza, the group mobilized the KALIPI’s Rolling Market during the ECQ when people are advised to stay at home and allowed only to go out to buy basic needs and medicines, go to the bank or on medical emergencies.
Through the rolling store, they brought marketing services closer to the people.
K A L I P I – D o l o r e s Federation President Lilibeth Banatao said the 15 Barangay Federation received a total amount of Php 10,000.00 for their GAD Projects and Programs from the MLGU.
“Each barangay chapter was instructed to utilize the funds for their GAD activities, but one of our top priorities is the mobilization our rolling market in order to bring its services closer to the people during the ECQ,” Banatao said.
This endeavor earned the group a total of Php 37,550 in profit which they used as capital for a sari-sari store. The Kalipi sari-sari store in Brgy. Poblacion is now opened to serve the Dolorenians every day.
The store sells variety of goodies such as assorted grocery items, vegetables and poultry products.
KALIPI Dolores Chapter Adviser Lorraine Turqueza said that the sari-sari store can also provide cash assistance for the women and Kalipi members in case of emergency.
“The LGU has been providing incentives for our KALIPI members as well. This is their initiative in advocating for women empowerment,” Turqueza added.
Mayor Conde Turqueza also committed to give a marketing space for the KALIPI store at the municipal market after it is reconstructed in order to sustain and further upscale the group’s marketing activity.
