LA TRINIDAD VEGETABLE TRADING POST 2024 REVENUE GROWTH

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet

The revenue collection of the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post (LTVTP) increased to 1.39 percent in 2024, equivalent to P41.855 million, according to the municipal treasurer’s office. And, for the first quarter (2025), the facility’s revenue receipt posted at P10.923M. It was learned that three to four thousand vegetable dealers are trading in the facility. La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda reported that the
Department of Agriculture (DA) has released P12 million from the P30 million allocated for the commercial center project. However, they are still awaiting further action from the central office in Manila.

Mayor Salda said some P10 million was allocated by their town’s counterpart since the initial ?12 million was insufficient to cover the project. Although the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was already bid out in 2015, it took around seven years before the necessary budget was released, Salda explained. On the other hand, the trading post office highlights one challenge they aim to address: the need to amend the trading post code. Despite the challenges, vendors, farmers, and traders continue to carry on with their daily operations. The flow of trade at the vegetable trading post persists as they adapt to the situation. At present, the Vegetable Trading Post remains crowded, with trucks parked side by side and people filling the limited space, the cramped setup makes it difficult for traders and buyers to move around.
