Codification Ordinance vital in legislative works

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet

Vice-Governor elect Marierose Fongwan-Kepes urged elected board members to work for impactful projects following the HEALTHIER Benguet agenda of Governor Melchor Diclas. Fongwan-Kepes, got an overwhelming 116,169 votes and ran under Lakas with teaming with Rep. Eric Yap-Diclas. ‘ The No. 1 that should be fixed…all board members committees that are assigned to the different committees should be working on impactful projects for the province of Benguet,’ Fongwan-Kepes said. ‘ We all been saying in the campaign that all committees must be working in line with HEALTHIER Benguet agenda,’ Fongwan-Kepes said, who was with her mother Prescilla and
members of her family during the proclamation on May 13 at the provincial legislative bldg.

Fongwan-Kepes looks forward for a productive legislative works attributing the bonding of the party members during the 45-day
campaign. She pointed out that during the campaign, all party members expressed their visions ..what’s on their heart and mind ..we all be working ..we will capitalized on that.’ Also topping the list of her legislative agenda is to come up with Codification Ordinance in order to guide provincial officials in formulating local laws ,and assist the public including members of the media in conducting research. By codification, we will know what are the existing and old ordinances, Fongwan-Kepes stressed. She expressed optimism for there are available funds for the purpose.

Other development, the new elected vice governor is bent in proposing an ordinance , creating additional position for a mining engineer in the office of the provincial environment office. The Province claims to be the leading producer od minerals like gold, but for decades, no one has been employed as mining engineer in the provincial environment office. In fact, Fay Apil , then regional director of Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera was batting and urging for the said position. But for any reasons, she never saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully with Fongwan-Kepes ,officer-in-charge of provincial legislative body, proper action will be done, recalling her late father mayor-governor-representative Nestor Fongwan ,Sr. legacy -Man of Action.
