Low income families are priority registrants in PhilSys

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Sept. 24 (PIA) – Low income families are the priority registrants under the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Kalinga Chief Statistical Specialist Maribel Dalayday said registration will start January 2021 and the list of Social Amelioration Program beneficiaries provided by the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) will be the basis for the identification of priority registrants in the province.
As stated by National Statistician and PSA Head Claire Dennis Mapa, the issuance of the national ID to low-income household heads will directly address the lack of documentation barrier in opening financial accounts for the distribution cash assistance to the vulnerable sector.
PhilSys Coordination Team (PCT) Kalinga is coordinating with the different local government units (LGU) in the province for the identification of household heads of low-income families. Coordination was already done in the municipalities of Rizal, Pinukpuk, Tinglayan, Lubuagan and the City of Tabuk.
Also discussed with local chief executives are the establishment of a registration center location, secured storage facility for the registration kits and other assistance needed to ensure efficient and safe execution of PhilSys operations in the area.
“Overall, the LGUs show support to the implementation of PhilSys in the province agreeing to provide a space or building within the vicinity of their municipal hall to establish a registration station and to securely store registration kits,” Dalayday said.
Other assistance needed such as transportation for registrants coming from remote areas and additional manpower for crowd control and ensuring safety of PhilSys registration operations are also positively considered by LGUs.
The PCT of PSA Kalinga reproduced about 2,500 copies of the updated PhilSYs brochure for dissemination to make the public aware of the relevant information about PhilSys. These are being distributed by personnel involved in the ongoing 2020 Census on Population and Housing.
The PCT also distributed copies of the brochure to the Provincial, Municipal and City Census Coordinating Board members for posting in bulletin boards. Dalayday assured that PCT members and 2020 CPH personnel are is strictly observing COVID-19 health safety protocols as they go perform their jobs.
