LTO naalarma sa pagdami ng kulorum na sasakyan sa Dagupan
LUNGSOD NG DAGUPAN – Iginiit ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) sa Rehiyon 1 ang peligro na idinudulot ng hindi nakarehistro o kulorum na mga sasakyan at mga driver na walang lisensya na umaarangkada sa kalsada.
Ito ay matapos na nadakip ang 87 na traffic violators sa isang joint special operation ng LTO-1, Dagupan City Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) at Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) noong Hulyo 4.
Ayon kay LTO-1 Regional Director Teofilo Guadiz III, nakakaalarma ang bilang ng mga nahuli sa isang araw lamang lalo na at ilan sa mga driver ay nakitang mayroong dalawa hanggang tatlong paglabag.
“Unregistered vehicles or drivers (unlicensed) or have not renewed driver’s license; these violations are walking disasters on the street. Since every registered vehicle has insurance or the third party liability. If they have not registered their vehicle and got involved in an accident, where will they charge the expenses? We also have no way to check if the vehicle is road worthy,” pahayag ni Guadiz.
Dagdag pa niya, “Or if you are not registered as a driver, how will we know that you are still equipped to drive?”
Target ng naturang special operation ang public utility vehicles dahil posibleng mas mataas ang epekto ng aksidente bunsod sa mas maraming pasahero na sakay ng mga ito, ani Guadiz.
Karaniwan sa mga paglabag ay pagmamaneho na expired ang lisensya, nagpaso na ang registration ng sasakyan, at pagmamaneho na walang helmet o seatbelt.
Aniya, ang operation ay ipinatupad sa hiling ng Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Dagupan sa pamamagitan ng isang resolusyon.
“We made a special operation in the city because most of the vehicles from all over the province are entering the city, the volume of traffic here is so big,” ani Guadiz.
Inihayag pa nito na bago ang isinagawang joint operation ay nagkaroon ng isang dyalogo kasama ang mga pinuno ng samahan ng mga driver upang ipagbigay-alam at himukin ang mga ito na tugunan ang mga nangyayaring paglabag na kinasasangkutan ng mga miyembro ng mga ito.
“We commensurate with the driver-violators in their situation right now considering the costs of penalties they have to pay, but we have a law to follow and when they drive a vehicle, they have the obligation to register. Also, they have to renew or get driver’s license because the next time they will be caught, they will be suspended for a month and the penalty will be doubled to P6,000,” aniya.
Sinabi nito na ang LTO-1, DCPS at POSO ay magsasagawa ng parehong joint operation sa bawat dalawang linggo. H.AUSTRIA, PNA / ABN
