MAN GETTING PALM LEAVES FOR PALM SUNDAY DIES IN MT. PROVINCE

A man was declared- dead-on arrival at Bontoc General Hospital an hour after he lost consciousness while getting palm leaves for “Palm Sunday” at Mount Polis, barangay Bayyo, Bontoc, Mountain Province. At around 10:25 AM of April 1, 2023, the Emergency Operations Center of Bontoc Local Government Unit was alerted about a man who suffered a heart attack. The victim was identified as Winston Fagyan, 47, from Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province.

At 11:54 AM Saturday, Fagyan was declared dead by his attending physician with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) as his cause of death. AMI is caused by underlying coronary artery disease.
It is commonly known as heart attack that happens when there is a blockage that prevents the oxygen-rich blood from getting to the heart compared to a cardiac arrest where the heart suddenly stops functioning.
