Manhunt On For Killers Of Abra Capital Village Chief

BAGUIO CITY (September 14, 2020) –  Abra policemen are now tracking down suspects of Sunday evening’s murder of a barangay chairman in Bangued, Abra’s capital town.

“Witnesses positively identified them,” said Abra police director Col. Cris Acop naming tricycle driver Jerwin Balaoro Millare, 32; brothers Danilo Baldemor Bergonia, 34 and Julius Baldemor Bergonia, 24; tricycle driver Michael Lombo, 33; all from Barangay Lingtan, Bangued, Abra and Clifford Laureta Melu, 24 from Brgy. Patucannay, also in Bangued, who stabbed to death Barangay Lingtan Chairman Claudio Bardadillo Bobias, 56, Sunday evening right in the village the latter heads.

Acop said the barangay chairman together with LGU security guard Rodel Balaoro Siobal, 40, were drinking in front of a sari-sari store when the five suspects, who came from a birthday party at the adjacent residence passed by.   The barangay official reportedly invited the five to join them.  But while they were all drinking, the five suddenly took turns in hitting the barangay chairman on the head with bottles of Red Horse beer and Ginebra San Miguel gin and stabbed him several times.

The barangay chairman who never reached the hospital alive sustained multiple stab wounds at his neck, chest and back, Acop said.

Abra police said the Bergonia’s might have avenged the killing of their close relative by the barangay chairman last April though the latter had amicably settled the slaying with their family after spending four months in jail.
