MULTI-MILLION NEW FARMER’S TRAINING CENTER IN KALINGA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga

The National Irrigation Authority -Cordillera said it inaugurated a multi-million peso worth of two-storey Farmer’s Training Center in Kalinga. At the same time it had turned over completed irrigation project to irrigators. Regional Manager Engr. Benito Espique, Jr. of NIA-CAR together with local officials led the inauguration of the facility on March 20 at NIA-Kalinga Irrigation Management Office (IMO) in Brgy. Bulanao in Tabuk City, Kalinga. The agency said the training center features a training hall, control room, dining hall with kitchen area, three suite rooms, six dormitory-type rooms and other building facilities.

The inauguration activity was also highlighted with the turnover of six completed projects (Calendar Year 2024) these are : Masang-at
Communal Irrigation System (CIS) in Brgy. Bangad; Tinglayan Kattu Baru Small Irrigation Project (SIP) in Brgy. Gobgob, Tabuk City.
Others -in Anggob CIS in Brgy. Mangali, Tanudan, Allaguia CIS in Brgy. Allagui, Pinukpuk, Saltan CIS in Brgy Balbalasang, Balbalan, Rizal Pump Irrigation System in Brgy. Liwan West, Rizal. Also in Kalinga, a solar pump project was restored 30 hectares of rainfed area. Based on NIA-CAR release, the solar project is an augmentation of the existing Malalao Communal Irrigation System of Tabuk City, Kalinga. The project was funded through NIA’s Restoration of Existing CIS (2024). In other development, the Benguet Federation of Irrigators Associations recently held its annual general assembly. The assembly centered on Accreditation as civil society organization (CSO).
