Millions worth of completed irrigation projects were inaugurated and turned over to irrigators’ associations (IA) in Brgy. Tumalunog, Flora ,Apayao, National Irrigation Administration -Cordillera (NIA-CAR) said. These completed projects include 12 solar pump irrigation
projects (SPIP), one small irrigation system and one communal irrigation system, located in four municipalities of Apayao and Cagayan.
Some 219 farmers will benefit on the project funded from various NIA sources and under its Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program
(CARP ). Component. And will irrigate some 213 hectares.
The seven projects which are being turned over to IAs are Dagupan SPIP in Luna, Marcela SPIP and Solar Pump IP-2, both located in Sta. Marcela, Apayao Solar Pumps in Brgy. Malubibit Norte and in Brgy. Tumalunog, both in Flora, Tawini CIS and Banban SIP, both located in Conner, based on NIA-CAR release. Also ,the other seven solar pump projects which are inaugurated are those within the service area of the West Apayao Abulug Irrigation System (WAAIS) in Apayao and Cagayan, three in Luna, three in Pamplona and one in Abulug
in Cagayan.
NIA-CAR Regional Manager Benito Espique,Jr., led the turnover and inauguration ceremonies together Vice-Governor and President of National Confederation of Irrigators Associations (NCIA), Hon. Remy Albano, Flora Mayor Rodolfo Juan, DAR CARP Officer Juliet Dumapis, NIA-CAR Administrative & Finance Division Manager Grace Fanged, Engineering and Operation Division Manager Leonardo Lamangen, Apayao IMO Manager Samuel Bahiwag, other NIA officials regionwide, presidents of various IAs and farmer-beneficiaries.
Similarly, NIA also turned over and inaugurated various solar projects in Kalinga in May 28 Bulo, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
