NIA-CAR TURNS OVER THREE IRRIGATION SYSTEMS TO FARMER GROUPS IN KALINGA

L A TRINIDAD,Benguet

The National Irrigation Administration – Cordillera (NIA-CAR) recently turned over three communal irrigation systems (CIS) to Irrigators’ Associations for operation and maintenance during a turnover program held at in Sitio Ileb, Barangay Nambaran, Tabuk City, Kalinga. These irrigation systems are the Zipla Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) and turned over to the United Ileb Farmers Irrigators Association; the Callati CIS was turned over to San Langkit Ileb FIA, and the Ambali CIS was turned over to Tam-awan Benafin IA (TABIA) all located in Barangay Nambaran, Tabuk City.

The IAs represented by their leaders Benito B. Dawangan, Ben Malannag and Henry Dalacan signed the acceptance and turnover documents. “Agyaman kami unay iti daytoy Zipla SPIP ket sapay kuma ta ad adu py nga solar projects ti maimplemtar ti NIA ditoy ayan mi tapnu makatalon

Funded under NIA’s Establishment of Groundwater Pump Irrigation Project (EGPIP), the Zipla SPIP has a service area of seven hectares with 10 farmers. Ambali CIS serves 3 hectares with 8 farmers while Callati CIS has an area of 6.5 hectares with 10 farmers. Both the Ambali CIS and Callati CIS were funded under the Repair and Rehabilitation of Communal Irrigation Systems
(RRCIS). Engr. Ferdinand Indammog, Acting Division Manager of NIA Kalinga Irrigation Management Office (IMO), said that the IA that will be in charge in the operation and maintenance of the irrigation systems.
