One Dead, 16 Hurt As Truck Tumbles In Isabela

BAGUIO CITY (June 21, 2021)— One died while 16 others including 6 minors were hurt when the Elf truck they were riding home from a picnic Sunday tumbled after smashing into an electric post in Barangay Cansan, Cabagan, Isabela.
Milagros Garro reportedly immediatelt died at impact,  the Cabagan police said, while Myrene Parungao, 29; Evlalia Gatan, 63; Raysie Gatan, 39; Mark Anthony Curibang, 18; Babylyn Gatan, 27; Chris Gaileg, 35; Erickson Allauigan, 18; Babylyn Malazzab, 42; Rovie Mae Dela Cruz, 17 and Jessica Gatan, 27; all from Barangay Fermeldi, Tumauini, also in Isabela.
Also injured were: Mohamad Raza, 5; Christine Daileg 10; Renz Daileg, 4; Christian Daileg, 4; Marginet Parungao,10, and Gabriel Yuan Gatan, 7, also from that barangay in Tumauini town.
Cagayan Valley police director Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves quoting Cabagan police chief Major Rodante Albano said,  the victims were heading home from a picnic at the Pinacanauan River, aboard the Elf Truck Dropside with plate number AWA7730, driven by Domingo Angolluan, 41, also from Barangay Fermeldi, Tumauini,  when the vehicle rammed into an electric post and tumbled at around 3:20 PM Sunday.
All the victims were hurriedly brought to the Milagros Albano District Hospital but two victims who had serious injuries were transfered to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) in Tuguegarao, City, Cagayan.
The driver of the truck, whom police found to have been drunk and might have dozed off while driving, remains in their custody.
