LA TRINIDAD, Benguet

The National Irrigation Administration -Cordillera (NIA-CAR) reported that some 10 irrigation projects in Apayao , worth more than P72 million were recently turned over to the respective
Irrigators’ Associations (IA). The various irrigation systems located across four municipalities has 234 hectares service area, benefitting 191 farmers.

NIA-CAR Regional Manager Benito Espique, Jr., Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang represented by Marinel Ginez , Engr. Samuel Bahiwag, Acting Division Manager of Apayao Irrigation Management Office (IMO) led the simple turn-over ceremony. Espique expressed his
gratitude to the Provincial Government of Apayao for their support to his agency’s plans and to NIA-Apayao IMO.

He urged Irrigators Associations to properly manage irrigation systems turned over to them to help sustain their livelihood and the livelihood of the next generation, according to NIACAR release.
The activity was also witnessed by Apayao Provincial Vice-Governor Remy N. Albano, Municipal Mayor of Pudtol represented by Vice Mayor Randy Laoat and Municipal Mayor of Flora represented by Marilou B. Valdez and Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Member Manny Biggayan.

Three of the irrigation systems are located in the Municipality of Kabugao. These are the Pagga-Pakol Small Irrigation System (SIS) in Brgy. Luttuacan which was turned over to Luttuacan-Pakol
Farmers Irrigators Association (IA), Kabugao Solar Pump in Brgy. Madduang turned over to
Kabugao Madduang Farmers IA, Utol SIS in Brgy. Poblacion turned over to Utol Kabugao Farmers IA.

Other irrigation systems turnover are located in the Municipality of Luna: Luna Pump Irrigation System (PIS) in Brgy. Turod which was turned over to Turod Farmers IA, Dangin Communal Irrigation System (CIS) in Brgy. San Gregorio which was turned over to Namnama ti San Gregorio
Farmers IA, Cabbaggoan Small Irrigation System (SIS) in Brgy. San Mariano which was turned over to Cabbaggoan Small IA and last is Maragmin CIS located at Brgy. Eva, Calanasan, Apayao which was turned over to Maragmin Irrigators Farmers Association Inc.
