PSA BENGUET CONDUCTS THE SURVEY ON COSTS AND RETURNS OF PALAY PRODUCTION JANUARY 2023 ROUND

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will conduct the 2022 Survey on Cost and Returns (SCR) of Palay Production (January 2023 Round) in collaboration with the Bureau of Agricultural
Research of the Department of Agriculture. The 2022 SCR will generate data on the cost structure of palay production, the average use of materials and labor inputs, measures of profitability, and other socioeconomic characteristics of palay farming in the country.

It also serves as benchmark data which are needed in the annual updating of the database on costs and returns of palay production. Data items to be collected from this undertaking are the following: basic characteristics of the farm and the sample farmer, farm investments, material inputs, labor inputs, other production costs, production and disposition, production and related information, marketing related information, access to financial services and programs, other information on the effect of climate change and farming practices, and plans and recommendations to improve
palay production.

The field data collection will be conducted on February 06 to 17, 2023. A total of 64 sample palay producing households in eight city municipalities of Benguet that were randomly selected through a scientific sampling procedure. These sample households will be interviewed by five hired Statistical
Researchers to account their farming operations from July to December 2022. In this regard, PSABenguet Provincial Statistical Office is appealing to the sample households and partner local government units to support the 2022 Survey of Costs and Returns of Palay Production.
