PWDs and indigent senior citizens receive financial assistance

Bontoc, Mountain Province – Two hundred seventy-nine (279) indigent Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens are recipients of financial assistance from the Ang Probinsyano Partylist and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Ang Probinsyano Partylist Representative Ronnie Ong visited Bontoc, Mountain Province on June 5, 2021, coinciding with the payout of
financial assistance to the beneficiaries. He was warmly welcomed by Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey, Sangguniang Bayan member Viola Okko and Sabangan Mayor Marcial Lawilao, Jr. Congressman Ong expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome by the Bontoc community to his team.
He mentioned that financial assistance is an augmentation to the financial needs of the beneficiaries who are also affected by the global pandemic. Mayor Odsey in his message thanked the lawmaker and the DSWD for their assistance and expressed high hopes that more programs will be funded to cater to the marginalized sector.
He added that the COVID-19 pandemic did not deter the government from assisting the vulnerable sectors of society. A PWD- beneficiary expresses her profound gratitude to the government adding that the amount she received is of great help to augment her financial needs for her monthly medication.
Officer in Charge Stephanie Kanongkong of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) mentioned that the Ang Probinsyano Parylist downloaded P270, 000 to the DSWD for the implementation of the said program. The amount was augmented by the DSWD.
Kanongkong added that it was their office that identified the list of beneficiaries based on their financial needs.
With this, she explained that the maximum amount received by a beneficiary is P3, 000 while the minimum is P1, 000. She further said that beneficiaries who are taking different medicines and have higher expenses with their medications received the maximum amount ofP3, 000.
As of this writing, the payout of financial assistance to eligible indigent PWDs and senior citizens is still ongoing.
