Septuagenarian Killed, Wife Hurt After Car Rams Into Tricycle In La Union Capital

BAGUIO CITY (November 29, 2020) –  A septuagenarian was killed while his wife was hurt after the tricycle they were aboard was rammed into by a car along the road in Barangay Madayegdeg, San Fernando City, La Union 5:20 AM Sunday.

Placido Apiado, 74, immediately died while Carmelita Apiado, 69, was rushed to the hospital,  police said.

The couple reportedly were just out from their residence were heading for the Sunday mass when the accident happened.

Apiado was driving the tricycle heading East when the car driven by Ian Paul Velasco, 30, a resident of San Juan, La Union rammed into the rear of the tricycle.

Because of the strong impact, the roof and the side car of the tricycle were dismembered.

San Fernando City police said Velasco,  who was taken by police, was driving fast and was found to be drunk. ***Artemio A. Dumlao***
