Shilan gets enhanced farm-to-market road

An almost 200-meter portion of the Jappa-Conit farm-to-market (FMR) road in Shilan, La Trinidad has recently been concreted to provide comfort for farmers in transporting their produce to the market.
Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas said the P3 million project was funded to rehabilitate the portion of the road that had been causing
damage to farmers’ vehicles and vegetable produce due to the road’s poor condition usually caused by heavy rains.
The project also included a construction of four slope protections along slide-prone areas of the road.
“We continue to enhance or improve more roads especially farm-to-market roads like this to help our farmers by enabling safe and smooth movement of farm goods to the nearest market,” Diclas added.
Further, Shilan Barangay Chairman Jeffrey Maslag expressed his gratitude to the provincial government of Benguet for considering the project as it is truly beneficial to the people in the said locality.
“Agiyaman kami ti provincial government through the initiative of Governor Diclas ta dakel timaitulong na daytoy nga project iti constituents iti Shilan,” Maslag said.
There are over a hundred vegetable and cut flower farmers who will reap benefits from the recently completed project, he added.
Meanwhile, the FMR also reaches to two of the barangay’s tourist destinations, namely Dinangking River Basin and Binanga Falls, which could help the barangay LGU boost their local tourism in the future.
The said tourist spots are temporarily closed as the barangay LGU is still preparing for their development.
