SHS VOUCHER PROGRAM IN CAR CONTINUES FOR AY 2024-2025

The voucher program for senior high school in the Cordilleras will continue, according to Demeterio Anduyan, Jr., Regional Director of Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHEDCAR). ”DepEd is very much ready to accommodate our senior high school program [and] senior high school students… na-foresee na nila that this would be happening soon, kasi talaga namang alam nila kung kailan dapat ito magend,” Anduyan said.
‘Since DepEd has decided that the voucher program will continue, “ang mga schools nation ay nagdecide na
ipagpatuloy nila ang pag-offer nila ng senior high,” he added.

Some 174 students availed the program in academic year (AY)2023-2024,according to the Commission on Higher
Education – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHEDCAR). It was learned that a recipient of the program, enrolled in public school ism given P35,000 while for those in private schools get P25k. Department of EducationCordillera (DepEd)-CAR, there are more or less 13, 629 movingup learners (Grade 10); 12, 166 (Public), 27 (State University
Colleges), and 1, 436 (Private), who would be eligible to apply for the voucher for the next academic year.

The SHS voucher program assists students through their tuition expenses funded by the Department of Education
(DepEd) and was allegedly only to last through the “transition period” — 2016-2021. Since DepEd has decided that the voucher program will continue, “ang mga schools nation ay nagdecide na ipagpatuloy nila ang pag-offer nila ng senior high,” he added. “Malaki and naitulong ng voucher dahil hindi na naging problems sa akin and mga babayaran sa school” as a senior high school guarantee, Jessica Raine Tuzon, Grade 12 said.Vana Telcagan, a student
from Benguet State University, expressed hope that she could be part of the program. ‘If given the opportunity to avail of the voucher, this would help my parents in sending me to college, and it will greatly lessen expenses- like
tuition fee,” Telcagan said in the vernacular.
