Speeding SUV rams farmer in Ilocos Sur
MAGSANGAL, ILOCOS SUR – A 53-year-old farmer died in the hospital after he was rammed by a speeding SUV early morning Thursday along the National Highway in Barangay Magsingal, Ilocos Sur.
Iluminado Duque Ulangco Sr., 53, farmer and a resident of Barangay Bacar, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, was reportedly walking beside his bicycle across the national highway at around 5:40 AM when a speeding SUV heading northbound driven by Edward Simpliciano Balisacan, 42, from Barangay 6, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, came and rammed unto the farmer.
The strong impact threw the farmer a few meters away and then to the pavement. The hapless farmer, who suffered multiple injuries, was rushed by rescuers to the Magsingal District Hospital but was declared dead by attending doctors.
The driver meanwhile was placed under police custody. Hours before the fatal accident, two individuals were rushed to the Ilocos Sur District
Hospital and Medical Center after meeting a road mishap at Barangay San Julian, also in Magsingal town Wednesday evening.
Though the victims were not named, one was a 25-year-old male and a resident of Barangay Dacutan, Magsingal, who sustained a laceration on his right hand and also complained that he experienced intense left shoulder pain. The other is a 68-year-old male from Barangay San Julian, Magsingal who also sustained abrasions on some parts of his body.
