Suits pile up VS Baguio drug syndicate big boss

BAGUIO CITY (July 1, 2020) – Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera (PDEA-Cordillera) agents sued suspected drug syndicate big boss Abdul Fabrigas Abdullah, 28, for attempted sale of dangerous drugs, direct assault with attempted homicide and malicious mischief Wednesday, hence piling up charges against him even after he surrendered Monday afternoon.
Abdullah surrendered to the Baguio City police office through the Office of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong after being on the run for three days while a massive manhunt was launched right after brief gun battle with PDEA operatives and Baguio police station 2 operatives along Upper Malvar st. Thursday night last week.
Abdullah, with a still unidentified cohort aboard a maroon Mitsubishi Montero SUV with conduction sticker B3R253, were supposed sell shabu to an undercover agent, when they noticed government agents prompting them to speed uphill and twice rammed into the PDEA van positioned downhill and began firing hitting the van’s windshield at the driver side. Agents fired back, maneuvered and gave chase but failed to catch up on Abdullah.
Several hours after at around 8AM Friday, the right fender-damaged and five bullet-riddled maroon Mitsubishi Montero SUV was found abandoned along Dr. Carino St. extension. A magazine full with caliber 45 bullets was found inside the SUV.
PDEA-Baguio operatives aided by a SWAT team from the Baguio City police even searched a supposed apartment near the abandoned SUV allegedly occupied by his relative, but did not find him there.
Abdullah after his surrender Monday afternoon belied his participation in Thursday’s failed sting operation that resulted into a shootout. He insisted he surfaced through his older sister to clear his name. “Walang shootout na nangyari,” he claimed, adding, “sa korte ko na lang sagutin.”
He has two warrants of arrest for child abuse (RA 7610) and rape (RA 8353). After getting swabbed at the Baguio General Hospital Monday night, Abdullah was sent to the Baguio City jail and will face trial for his piled up charges. PDEA-Cordillera regional director Gil Castro earlier ordered a wide manhunt for Abdullah, allegedly infamous for smuggling huge amounts, sometimes a kilo of shabu, from the lowlands, pressuring him to surface Monday afternoon.
Baguio City police director Col. Allen Rae Co told Abdullah Monday afternoon, “it was the right thing to do (for him)” as he was considered by authorities as armed and dangerous.
