The Essential Foundation to Express Oneself

The more we are aware of how grammar works, the more we can monitor the meaning and effectiveness of the way we and others use language. It can help foster precision, detect ambiguity, and exploit the richness of expression available in English (David Crystal, “The Word and Deed”, 2004).
High School for me is the crucial time of education because we are being trained of what we’ll become and we feel a sense of pride in accomplishments. English was being emphasized because of the perception that if you know your grammar, you understand what makes sentences and paragraphs clear, interesting and precise. It’s considered as a big edge to someone. According to Janhavi (2019), English gives a chance to be on the world scene.
I will never learn to write with clarity, precision, and grace if my English teachers have not given me opportunities to keep on writing and get prompt feedback from them. Thus, if they didn’t encourage me to write, I have a hard time to communicate the point that is important for others.
With lack of technology those days, reading books was the only way. There’s this small book that I usually carry aside from the dictionary. This small book helps me grow personally and professionally. Some grammar books were on my table but I gave more appreciation on this small book because I recognized that it made me more effective writer in the long run.
This small book helps me to know how to craft words into coherent sentences, and how to form those sentences into paragraphs that successfully convey meaning. Until one day, I met the author in my workplace. Great thanks Ms Crisanta Bumangil-Lingbanan. Your little book served as my high school guide. I’m more grateful because you’re such a mentor the moment I knew you; through this small book that I overcame my fears on writing.
Teachers may then continue to inspire your students and be encouraged to write for the next generations to read and use.
