LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Sept. 25 (PIA) – The provincial government of Benguet confirmed the third COVID-19 related death in the province on September 20, 2020.
The Benguet Provincial Health Office said the patient is a 70 year old male from Barangay Pico in La Trinidad and recorded as Benguet Case No. 211.
Based on the PHO data, the patient who was asymptomatic was admitted for COVID-19 on September 12 at Benguet General Hospital but was reported in critical condition on Sept. 19.
Aside from being positive for COVID-19, the patient was also hypertensive and diabetic. The third COVID-19 related death came five days after the second death was reported in the province.
The second recorded COVID-19- related death was a 75 year old male who was admitted at the Lutheran Hospital in Abatan, Buguias, Benguet on Sept. 7 to 11, after being infected with cellulitis.
The patient was discharged and was sent home after showing improvement but was again rushed to the Northern Benguet District Hospital in Buyacaoan, Buguias on Sept .13 where he was admitted.
On Sept. 15, the patient was referred to the Benguet General Hospital for further treatment but while on the way, the patient had cardiac arrest and was rushed to the Atok District Hospital in Sayangan, Atok where he was declared dead on arrival.
The patient was swabbed tested for COVID-19 on Sept. 14, and the results came out afternoon of Sept. 15 yielding positive result. Benguet recorded its first Covid-19 death in August involving a 58 year-old male from Itogon town who had comorbidity.
As of Sept. 24, the province of Benguet now as a total of 286 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 204 recoveries, 79 active cases and three COVID-19 related death.
