Truck driver dies from road accident in Benguet

BAGUIO CITY (July 27, 2021)— A driver of a water delivery truck was killed after the vehicle he was driving lost its brakes and hit another vehicle and tumbled on its side after at around 2:45 PM Monday at Sitio Kurba, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet.

The fatality is Martin Cayat Napeek III, 19, and a resident of Trail, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet.

According to the Itogon Municipal Police Station (MPS), the delivery truck Napeek was driving was descending along Proper Tuding, Itogon when the brakes of the truck malfunctioned and descended faster.

The truck hit a parked van along the road and a house nearby then tumbled to its side. Napeek sustained fatal injuries because of the impact.

The driver was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) by responders of the Itogon Police but was declared dead on arrival.

The Itogon MPS reminded the public especially the motorists to ensure the safetiness of their vehicle before travelling to avoid accidents.
