Vice-Governor elect “Tagel” Felipe bats farmers’ subsidy, addt’l funds for scholarship program

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet- Incoming Benguet Vice-Governor Ericson “Tagel” Feline vowed to give subsidies to local farmers and augment financial assistance to sustain the province’s scholarship program.
In a press interview after the official proclamation, Felipe said, he will work with the Provincial Board to provide subsidy farmers in the form of agricultural inputs and insecticides aim to ease the impact of smuggling and help sell their produce by expanding markets.
Benguet prime producer of temperate vegetables which supplies 80 percent to Metro Manila and nearby provinces has been plagued with Illegally imported vegetables.
He will also plan to “double or triple” the existing scholarship assistance for the youth. “I would encourage the Board to support such measure by adding more funds for the (scholarship) program,” said Felipe whose earlier government service include- being chairman of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and serving as an ex-officio council member of Tublay and later elected town councilor for two terms (2004 to 2010).
His other priorities include —the codification of provincial ordinances to meet the demand of time. Felipe, former legislative staff of ex- Benguet Representative Ronald Cosalan said that he will tender his resignation as president of their construction company in order not to influence government transactions.
“I have to resign as president of our corporation and concentrate on my job as a public servant,” Felipe said who also promised not to allow members of his immediate family to get involved in government projects.
Asked about what will be his lead the provincial having ran as an independent candidate, Felipe said: “I believe that party ends when service to the people begins.. we are all after the general welfare of the people.” “I believe one goal for the good of the Province of Benguet,” said Felipe, who added that “it’s the plan of God” that led him to victory.
“Most of the campaign is not campaigning for myself but campaigning for the gospel..how God was in the business of transforming lives,” said Felipe, himself transformed by the Almighty.
