Re-elected Mayor Salda bares P100-million plus worth of priority projects

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet- Expansion of the municipal building, construction of a mini-hospital, and tourism building is among the top priority projects, according to re-elected Mayor Romeo Salda.
“ I would like to continue the programs that we have started – expansion of our municipal building, construction of a mini hospital and tourism building,” Salda told mediamen after he was proclaimed on Tuesday (May 10) as the duly elected mayor of this capital town. As to the availability of funds, Salda for his last term said, said an initial P100 million was allocated to the expansion of their municipal building, P4M for the mini hospital, and P2M for the tourism facility.
Salda also vowed to strengthen its environmental protection and educational projects— the construction of additional high school buildings. The local chief executive is optimistic that the passage of the Mandanas law, will boost funds for basic social services. Salda also expressed hope and prayer that the cityhood of La Trinidad will push through.
He pointed out the bill of Representative Eric Yap calling for all capital towns to be transformed into a city. Regarding BLISTT programs, Salda said:” we need confirmation from the indigenous people and stakeholders.
On the part of re-elected Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan, he confirmed the availability of initial funds for the expansion of the municipal building, mini hospital, and tourism building. “Yes we have funds for those projects,” said Vice Mayor Awingan.
Awingan said that among his priority legislative measures include codification of municipal ordinances, and he made sure that all executive-legislative agendas are acted favorably.
Meanwhile, re-elected municipal councilor John Botiwey assured that the La Trinidad Trading Post ordinance (amendments) will be passed before the end of June this year. “Amendments on the ordinance is on its second reading, we hope to finish this June,” said Botiwey.
