WELLNES CENTER FOR SENIOR AND COMMUNITY CENTER FOR PWD’S IN THE CITY PUSHED BY REP. MARK GO

Last week, Congressman Mark Go filed 2 bills that seek to: Establish a Wellness Center for Senior Citizens in the City of Baguio  (HB 3924), and Establish a Community Center for the Differently-abled in the City of Baguio (HB 3922), Wellness Center for Senior Citizens (HB 3924).

HB 3924 aims to establish a wellness center for senior citizens that provides living accommodations, healthcare access specific to its residents’ geriatric needs, and community initiatives that foster a sense of community and security which is vital in maintaining the physical, psychological and mental well-being of the elderly. Rep. Go said that while the Constitution maintains that the family is responsible for caring for their elderly, many Filipino elderly simply do not have family members who can support them in their advanced age, especially in terms of their health and psychosocial needs.

This wellness center will contribute to addressing the gaps in our social protection system. After years of contributing to national productivity, the establishment of a wellness shelter will ensure that Filipino senior citizens in Baguio will have a place where they can live happily and comfortably. Community Center for the Differently-abled/PWDs (HB 3922) “The differently-abled are among the most vulnerable in our society.

We want to offer not only a comfortable place for them to live, but also offer specialized training programs that will help them reach their full potential,” Rep. Mark Go said. Once passed, HB 3922 will establish a community center for differently-abled persons or people with disabilities (PWDs) that will provide them with access to shelter, education, and training programs aimed at increasing their livelihood and employment opportunities.

Through this bill, Rep. Mark Go would like to support families with family members who are differently abled in terms of health care, skills training, therapy sessions, etc. in order to address their unique needs and help them be the best that they can be.
