LUNGSOD NG BAGUIO – Lima pang miyembro ng “Militia ng Bayan” auxiliary force ng New Peoples Army (NPA) ang sumuko sa 17th Infantry Battalion ng Philippine Army at kapulisan ng Rizal, Cagayan noong Lunes, Pebrero 26.
Nadagdagan ang bilang ng NPA auxiliary forces na sumuko sa mga puwersa ng gobyerno sa buwan ng Pebrero na umabot sa mahigit tatlong dosena, ang lima na mula sa barangay Maasin, Alcala, Cagayan ay sinamahan ng mga opisyal ng barangay papunta sa kampo ng military upang talikuran na ang paniniwala at bumalik sa poder ng gobyerno.
Ayon kay Army Lt. Col. Camilo Saddam, commander ng 17th Infantry Battalion, ang limang NPA auxiliaries ay kabilang sa mga nakilala sa mga larawan kasama ang mga komunistang rebelde na nagsasanay sa Zinundungan Valley noon pang 2104.
Nasiyahan sa pagdagsa ng mga miyembro ng “Militia ng Bayan” ay sinabi ni Brig. General Perfecto Rimando Jr., commanding general ng 5th Infantry Division ng army na nakabase sa Gamu, Isabela na, “the credit goes to the local government officials who facilitated and assisted their constituents to return to the folds of the law. We need to convince these MBs to denounce their support to the terrorist group, because we knew that when they undergo training, they pledged to support the terrorist groups.”
Hinikayat ni Rimando ang iba pang opisyal ng bayan na tularan ang mga inisyatibo ng Rizal local government. “We need to assist our constituents associated with the CNTs if they have the intention to return to the folds of the law. The feeling of nothing to lean on will make some hide forever or cling to the rebels even if they could no longer stomach the terrosistic activities of the group,” dagdag ni Rimando.
Sa tala ng military ay umabot na sa 22 NPA auxiliaries at rebel mass supporters ang sumuko sa 17th Infantry Battalion na lahat ay mula sa bayan ng Rizal. AALEGRE
