Camp John Hay GC 2 capitalized its home course advantage and took an emphatic lead in AM-A with 221 (119-102) in the ongoing 74th Januarius Fil-Am Golf Invitational here. John Marasigan who earlier carded even par , and together with Charles Baguilat combined 56 points to power their team second round output of 102 on Saturday . Bonifacio De Castro and Clyde Cabreros had identical 23. The Young Ones in second spot at 185 (91-96) while Bibak NY/.NJ/Igolfers USA 184 (94-90). Danilo Malana of Okinawa Team 2 (AM Senior-B) highlighted Saturday’s round with a hole-in-one on the 13th hole in Camp John Hay. He used an 8-iron Honma Beres and Titleist Pro V1 ball.
Actually, it was the second ace so far in the tournament, the first was scored by Artemio Tuazon of Team Master (FIL Senior -E ) at BCC’s Hole No. 9 in this tournament with with Januarius Holdings ,Inc. as the title sponsor. Luisita Golf GC on Saturday sailed to a first round output of 102 points and remained focus to defend its title in the seniors FIL Championship Flight . Ferdie Barbosa and Abraham ‘Abe’ Rosal combined 54 points at BCC layout to lift the defending champion Luisita. Benjamin Sumulong and Rafael ‘Chino’ Raymuindo, contributed 25 and 23 points, respectively. Manila Southwoods GC in second spot with 97 while Riviera Golf 96.
Srixon IMG tamed the Camp John Hay course, submitted a first round score of 118 points and the lead in the AM Championship flight over Greenwater Seniors’ 112 and and Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club 2 which carded 104. Mamala Bay sustained its form at BCC course to remain in the lead in FIL A with a two day tally of 181 (91-92) followed by Camp John Hay GC 1 171 (89-82) and Team Okinawa 1 164 (88-76). Bughaw Golfers posted 81 point in FIL-B mainly on the efforts of Noel Marcellano 28, Jimmy Suelo and Rolando Valdez each shot 20 and Gerry Florendo 13.
Sandigan 82 Team 1 signed 79 while A1/ MGC and Davao Eagle Masters Team 1 shot identical 73. MCG-MImosa tallied 98 points to take first round lead in AM-B courtesy of Crisostomo Garbo 27, Danilo Abad 26, Emiliano Mendoza 24 and Mario Dennis Lumpay 21. Forest Hills Palmer carded 86 followed by Robros-JV Golf Team and Terrifics which submitted identical 83 points while Residences At Brent 82 while Waterlympics Pampanga 81. ICSI/TMI Team 2 posted 117 including its second round score of 62 to take a six point advantage to lead in AM- E over Green Canyon 116 and Silicon Golfers Link 2 95. Other leading teams on the tournament supported by A Brown, Eastridge and Toyota as event presenter while Alveo, Tipsy Pig, Aquatico , Moto Lubricant, Master Siomai, Robinsons Land and Brittany as backers.
Regular FIL F– Team Banh-Mi tallied a two aggregate of 153 (84-69) points, Nueva Ecija Travellers 152 (73-79) and Ismael CPA 145 (65-80). Team Foretee and Peekup Philippines improved it’s round to clinch first and second spot ,respectively in the Regular AM-F flight. Francis Jon De Leon, Ronald Michel Ubana, Harbie Flores and Armando Sison powered Team Foretee’s second round output of 80 for a two aggregate of 153 , including its 76 in the first round. Dennis Te posted 46 points including his 26 points in the second round to lift PeekUp PH’s 153 ( 70-83) after two rounds. Also scoring are Alexander Nikkoli Cruz 21, while team’s captain Jayson Chua and John Philip Chua had similar 18 points. City of Pines on third 146 (66-80). Tournament format : FIL Division, first two days at BCC, remaining two days at CJH; AM Division , first two days at CJH and succeeding 36 holes at BCC.
