BANGUED, Abra
The two gunmen in the September 14 assassination of Abra lady lawyer Maria Saniata Liwliwa G.
Alzate have been identified. Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo said their investigation already nailed who the two motorcyclein-tandem are. “We will ascertain if we could file cases next week (against the duo),” he vowed, as policemen are continuously digging for breaks
into the broad daylight killing that had invited a nationwide uproar.
The gunmen, whom Peredo still refused to name pending the filing of formal murder charges, pumped at close range at least 8 bullets at lady lawyer while she was inside her white Mitsubishi Mirage G4 sedan bearing plate number AVA 6533 parked in front of their gate along Santiago St., Zone 3, Bangued, Abra 4:55PM on September 14. She was declared dead-on-arrival ten minutes later at the Seares Memorial Hospital, also in Bangued.
The motorcycle used was found mid last week dumped at a ravine along a forested area some 300 meters from the hotel of a former Bangued town mayor at Casamata Hill, Zone 5, also in Bangued.
The abandoned motorcycle was reportedly noticed when investigators scoured back the area where the gunmen fled the scene. The broad daylight killing was captured by a CCTV camera that gave investigators headway in the assassins identities.
The victim’s husband, former Regional Trial Court Judge Raphiel F. Alzate earlier earlier voiced his dismay over the slow-paced investigation.
