Agoo reigns supreme in Mutia ti La Union for 6 years

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Mutia ti La Union 2017 crowned its new queen, once again choosing Agoo town’s lass from among the 20 candidates.
Miss Agoo, for the sixth consecutive time, captures the crown as Carina Carino receives the Mutia ti La Union 2017 title at the city plaza of San Fernando, March 2, 2017.
This event is one of the grandest Mutia ti La Union that happened in the history of the celebration as part of the province’s 167th Foundation Anniversary.
The star-studded beauty pageant was attended by Boy Abunda and Ai-Ai De las Alas as the hosts of the show with a performance from Alden Richards. The panels of judges include Haiden Kho, Albert Martines, Geraldine Roman, Jasmine Curtis and the biggest star to grace the event, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
Wurtzbach, as among the pageant’s judges, gave the question to Carino, “Since it’s almost International Women’s Day and that is a celebration of women who empower and inspire, aside from your mother, can you name another female figure in your life that inspired you?”
Despite being booed by the crowd in the middle of giving her answer, Carino was able to deliver her thoughts with sincerity, naming her handler who had inspired her to join the pageant. She said that the female figure shouldn’t be limited to those who are biologically female because, in the present, there are those who had changed their gender and decided to be identified as women.
In an interview, Agoo Mayor Sandra Y. Eriguel said, “It just proved that Carina is not just beautiful but also very intelligent” in handling herself at that moment.
Meanwhile, Miss Luna Darlene Mae Caoile won as 2nd runner up, Baloan’s Katherine Joy Adona as the 1st runner up, Miss Pugo Rainzee Kayle Bantiding is the Mutia ti Kalikasan, and Miss Sto. Tomas Shawntel Michole Cruz is Mutia ti Turismo. Aubrey Morales, UC Intern / ABN
