In a week from 1-10, 2024, 13 people were arrested by CIDG-Cordillera

In a coordinated effort spanning multiple provinces, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cordillera together with other PNP local units achieved remarkable success in apprehending 13 individuals for various crimes. In OPLAN Pagtugis or the Campaign against Wanted Persons, this unit was able to conduct Nine (9) operations resulting to the arrest of Nine (9) individuals for various crimes in separate operations in Baguio City, Benguet, Abra and Ifugao Province.

Similarly, in OPLAN BOLILYO or the campaign against Illegal Gambling, the CIDG Benguet Provincial Field Unit
successfully apprehended 4 (four) illegal bet collectors and seized of cash bets totaling Php9, 920. The illegal collectors were caught in the act (Inflagrante Delicto) of collecting money bets from operatives of this Benguet PFU who acted as poseur bettor for the supposed draws of STL.

The arrested persons failed to present any pertinent documents neither authorization issued by the PCSO for collecting bets for STL. Further, a certification was issued by the Pines Estate and Gaming Corporation, the sole operator of STL in Benguet Province and Baguio City, that the arrested persons are indeed an illegal collectors and not authorized nor registered to collect bets on their behalf.

Benguet PFU filed cases for Violation of RA 9287 against the arrested suspects. Arrested suspects were apprised of their rights upon arrest and brought to their respective arresting CIDG Field Units for proper disposition while waiting for the return of warrants to the courts of origin. Additionally, CIDG Regional Field Unit Cordillera were able to file a criminal complaint for Estafa and Illegal Recruitment committed by syndicate and/or large scale in before the City Prosecutors Office, Baguio City.
