Baguio braces for Media Congress Week

The local government is bracing for the upcoming Media Congress Week in the city following the declaration of September 4-10, 2017 as the Media Congress Week in the city.
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan issued Administrative Order No. 060, series of 2017 that set the guidelines to be observed by concerned parties during the Media Congress Week.
Earlier, the Media Specialist Association of the Philippines (MSAP) selected Baguio as the host of its 3rd Media Congress on September 6-9, 2017.
Aside from the MSAP, the United Print Media Group (UPMG), the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KBP), the Outdoor Association of the Philippines (OAOP), the Out Door Media Advocacy Group (OMAG), and the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (INNAP) primarily compose the organizing group of the media congress.
Domogan revealed this event is expected to bring to the city more than 2,000 participants from the media and marketing industries, as well as from the academe, significantly contributing to the promotion of the city as a preferred tourism and events destination in the country.
“We have to provide a comfortable and stress-free stay for our guests by affording them the convenience and freedom of easy access to their seminar venues and lodging and likewise to tour and explore the various tourist attractions of the city in the comfort of their vehicles,” Domogan stressed.
Under the said order, the implementation of the provisions of the Baguio Number Coding Ordinance will be suspended for all vehicles of participants and support groups riding in authorized 3rd Media Congress 2017 vehicles provided by the organizers from September 4-8, 2017.
Domogan directed all concerned government agencies and city departments and offices to extend their utmost assistance to the organizers for the successful conduct of the said endeavour.
Among the outlined duties and responsibilities of the concerned city departments will be the allocation of available vehicles and drivers to ferry guests to and from their hotels and seminar venues, allow the organizers to post, free-of-charge, advertising materials in the main streets of the city and adjoining highways leading to the city, subject to coordination with other concerned local governments; provide color guards and honor guards during the culminating and awarding ceremonies; provide assistance to showcase the Cordillera culture throughout the congress and the produce, arts and crafts of Baguio through the Saturday market; provide escort to very important guests, security in all identified venues and traffic management; provide standby medical and rescue services; provide assistance in the fun run and other sports activities, and provide and assemble parachute tents at the Camp John Hay camping grounds.
Domogan urged the academe and business sectors in the city to support this year’s media congress to guarantee its success. DAS/PIO / ABN
