Baguio Library now open on Saturdays

BAGUIO CITY – Due to popular demand, the Baguio City Library has been open to the public six days a week from Mondays to Saturdays, 8am to 5pm, since April 7. The library is located just across the Children’s Playground at Burnham Park.
OIC city librarian Mercedes Bernardo said the move came after numerous requests especially from students taking up post-graduate degrees and parents wanting to avail of the library’s children’s section for their kids reached her office.
She said at least four library personnel are assigned to manage the library on Saturdays to ensure that the needs of their clients are met. It has a total staff of nine and were divided into two groups to take turns for the Saturday assignment.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan issued an administrative order approving the flexible work schedule for the first semester of 2018 of those assigned at the library on Saturdays
The three-storey city library is divided into the internet, law, filipiniana, periodicals, administrative, local history, general collection, thesis and dissertation and other sections.
Bernardo said the library’s various programs include visitations and orientations to different schools and barangays to help them organize their libraries, mobile book services, reading programs and others.
