Baguio Sports Complex, Athlete’s Training Center

BAGUIO CITY (May 21, 2021)— The City Government of Baguio is bent on building a state-of-the-art facility for its youth and local athletes.
Baguio City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña presenting the plan for the construction of a sports complex cum youth convergence center expected to commence soon said, experts from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) have been tapped to help in the specifications of the multi-story structure to ensure that it will conform to international standards.
According to Dela Peña, the building will have a parking facility located at the ground floor which can accommodate about 60 vehicles and 20 motorcycles.

The upper ground floor will house the convergence center for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) offering them rooms, a multi-purpose hall, an auditorium, and other required amenities for their activities.
The third floor will be a training ground for athletes of contact sports such as boxing and taekwondo among others while the fourth floor will be the training ground for bowlers with six bowling alleys to be installed.
A basketball court will also be constructed on the fifth floor.
According to dela Peña, this will be the first ever basketball court to be put up and managed by the city government for its athletes.
The project worth 391 million is already poised for bidding, adding that one requirement for contractors who will participate in the bidding is having a strong track record in building a sports complex.
According to dela Peña, while the use of the sports center and its amenities will be free of charge for the city’s athletes, charges will apply to other individuals as the facility is also eyed as a commercial enterprise.
