Feb 16, 2018

BAGUIO CITY – The city government and the Filipino-Chinese Community are hand in hand in celebrating the yearly Lunar Chinese New Year or Baguio Spring Festival.
To welcome the 2018 Year of the Dog, a Barangay Gift Sharing was organized in Barangay Gibraltar and participated by 110 beneficiaries of 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) on the February 13, 2018.
Spring Festival Chairperson Peter L. Ng, in his welcome remarks, promoted unity, peace and prosperity to strengthen and enhance the historical friendship between the Filipino and Chinese community. He also said that the gift sharing is their simple way to show their love to the indigent families.
According to City Social Welfare and Development Officer Betty F. Fangasan, the participants, who are 4Ps beneficiaries from barangays Pacdal, Lualhati, Gibraltar and Mines View, are properly selected through National Household Targeting System Survey.
Fangasan said she is a witness to the gift giving, which has been going on for years, of the Filipino-Chinese community as they keep on coordinating with them to share their blessings to those in need.
The Baguio Spring Festival has been celebrated for 20 years with its purpose to strengthen ties with the Filipinos. KRISTINE MAE L. PASYAN, UB Intern
