BCBC CONTINUES TRADITION FOR MEDIA

The tradition continues for Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club Incorporated (BCBC). The Search for the BaguioBenguet Lucky Summer Visitor (LSV) is an annual event spearheaded by the BCBC for a group of first-time visitors to a 4day and 3night red carpet tour of Baguio and Benguet under the leadership of Thomas Picana, BCBC president. “We will continue the tradition our elders started and do our best to continue to serve our community as well as safeguard our community journalist’s welfare,” Picana said.

The BCBC is the longest running media club in the North estimated to be founded in 1964, and has partnered with the City Government of Baguio, Province of Benguet and Municipality of Pugo and the Department of Tourism for the annual summer event which kicks off Monday, March 25 and culminates on March 31, Sunday, for a grand send off. The LSV was crafted by media elders aimed to help promote Baguio City, the country’s undisputed Summer Capital, as a prime tourist destination especially during the summer season and gave birth to the media event which allow a lucky group to experience the city and the nearby Benguet towns.

The private sector also pitches in for the project and is led by Hotel Supreme, the official residence of the BCBC LSV with the Ng family upholding the tradition with the media club for decades.

During the week, the BCBC hosts the revered “media camp” called Camp Peppot, named media mentor, Peppot Ilagan, for a week-long convergence of media, students and information officers in lectures, workshops and exchange.
