Some P318K worth of farm materials were distributed to 216 organic farmers in the province, representing 15
associations. These associations are located in Bokod, Buguias, Itogon, Kapangan, La Trinidad, Tuba, and Tublay.
The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) spearheaded the turnover of the organic inputs provided by the Province of
Benguet on July 2 at the Crop Technology Station in Barangay Puguis. The organic materials distributed were water tanks (15); plastic crates (260); molasses (3,000 kg); rubberized garden hose (20); plastic sheets (33).
In an interview with Mr. Tyron Dagdag, Agriculturist and Focal Person of Organic Agriculture in the province, said these farm materials include plastic sheets, hose and water tanks and molasses. “We conduct validation of farms kung sino ang mabibigyan ng interventions. before we turnover the materials” Dagdag said. ‘For the record, the fund last year was only P500,000 thousand and for this year we received P813,000 thousand from the Province of Benguet through the office of the Provincial Agriculture.
Benguet has the most number of organic farmers in Cordillera with 1,200 practitioners, at the same time it has the most number of certified farmers (25) and accreditted organic groups in the region.
