CJH-Forest Lodge to host “Luzviminda” fashion show

BAGUIO CITY – Sustaining the city’s tourism efforts and contributing to the further development of Filipino culture, Camp John Hay’s Forest Lodge will showcase a fashion show dubbed as “Luzviminda.”

The fashion exhibit is set on August 9, 2019 and organized by the Designer Circle Philippines (DCP). It will feature “tapestries that bind our independence.”

A number of Filipino designers will showcase creativity that has immensely contributed to Philippine heritage. Camp John Hay Manor general manager Mon Cabrera officially led the opening of the exhibit on Saturday, July 13, 2019 along with DCP officials headed by Francis Calaquian and his group – Dave Ocampo, Edwin Uy and Norman Acuba.

“We have collaborated topromote Filipino creativity and cultural excellence through this event. Throughout history, fashion much often used to symbolize our cultural richness,” Cabrera said.

“Our country has its own fashion identity which greatly contributed to our heritage and cultural traditions. Each region is culturally diverse and it reflects the way Filipinos look,” he added.

“We in the Forest Lodge, in partnership with DCP is here to showcase and promote traditional clothing,” Cabrera said as he wished to provide a “window of world-class couture collections which are made of local textile and accessories.”

“We believe that while we move forward to the new millennium, we will enrich and promote our diverse cultures through fashion to the world,” Cabrera added, extolling the master pieces of Filipino designers.

Meanwhile, Calaquian said that nowadays, a number of Filipino designers are very much appreciative in using indigenous materials in their designs.

For his part, David Uy reported that Filipino designers have been receiving a lot of orders using indigenous materials from foreign countries. “It’s now a trend in the world of fashion,” Uy said.
