BAGUIO CITY(July 17, 2021)— After the police trainees, fire operatives undergoing training figured in another Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case clustering.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said a total of 68 positive cases had been recorded from a pool of 130 trainees for a 58 percent positivity rate.
Their training site was at Dontogan barangay.
According to Magalong, as early as June 12 he had called up Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Chief Gen. Jose Embang Jr. to suspend the training. but the regional office still continued with it. The mayor added he has been requesting Embang to investigate the non compliance to his order.
Just last week, the mayor sought the suspension of the police trainings after more than a hundred trainees fell ill of COVID.
The mayor said succeeding investigations showed lapses in compliance with the health and safety protocols.
