DOH rehab center, nag-aalok ng ALS, computer training

LUNGSOD NG DAGUPAN – Nagbukas ang Department of Health (DOH) ng Alternative Learning System (ALS) at computer literacy training programs para sa mga drug-dependent “residential or in-house clients” upang matugunan ang kakulangan sa edukasyon bilang bahagi ng kanilang holistic rehabilitation approach.
Ayon kay Raymund Basbas, chief administrative officer ng DOH-Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-DTRC) ng lungsod, na ang kanilang mga kliyente ay hindi pa nakakapagtapos ng basic education habang ang iba ay kulang sa basic computer skills.
Sinabi pa ni Basbas na 18 sa kanilang mga kliyente ay nag-enrol ng ALS para sa secondary education, samantalahang apat sa elementary education simula noong Disyembre ng nakaraang taon.
“Their graduation from ALS will depend on whether they will pass the exams,” ani Basbas.
Ang computer literacy program ay mag-uumpisa kapag nakumpleto ang construction ng computer room ng center, na may 10 computers na magiging accessible sa hands-on learning ng mga kliyente.
“We will assess them (clients) on their basic computer skill to determine who will be enlisted for the program,” ani Basbas, at idinagdag pa niya na ang mga bagong serbisyo ay bahagi ng personality development program ng mga kliyente.
Maliban dito, idiniin ni Basbas na ang Technical Skills and Development Authority ay regular na nagsasagawa ng trainings tulad ng massage therapy at rag making samantalang ang Department of Science and Technology ay nagbibigay ng livelihood programs.
“We want our drug-dependent clients to be prepared holistically before they come out to the society,” ani Basbas.
Ang mga residential client ay sumasailalim sa therapeutic community program ng anim hanggang 12 na buwan at aftercare monitoring ng 18 na buwan base sa standard ng DOH, sabi ni Basbas.
“They have daily whole day activities to keep them busy, which include reformation programs; spiritual enhancements; and advocacy program; prepared and monitored by highly equipped doctors, psychologists and psychiatrists,” dagdag niya.
Nag-aalok din ang center ng medical, dental at laboratory services sa kanilang mga kliyente.
Ang DTRC-Dagupan ay mayroong 189 residential male clients, na nasa edad na 18 hanggang 73 anyos mula Region 1 at mula Bulaca at Metro Manila. Ang center ay nagsisilbi rin sa mga outpatient, na karamiha’y endorsed ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. H. AUSTRIA, PNA / ABN
