EMPOWERING EDUCATORS: A RECAP OF THE JUST CONCLUDED INSET ON CATCH-UP FRIDAYS

In the ever-evolving landscape of education, continuous professional development is crucial for educators to stay abreast of the latest pedagogical approaches, technological advancements, and educational trends. Recently, teachers of Balili Elem. School La Trinidad, Benguet had their IN SERVICE Training Workshop on CATCH-UP PROGRAM FOR NUMERACY AND LITERACY last January 24 – 26, 2024.

This initiative aimed to provide educators with valuable tools, strategies, and resources to enhance their teaching practices and ultimately benefit students in adherence to DepEd MEMO No. 001, s. 2024: Catch-up Fridays to Ignite Reading, Values, and Peace Education Across the Philippines to address learning gaps and prioritize holistic development in all elementary and secondary schools nationwide: Catch-up Fridays is a learning mechanism intended to strengthen the foundational, social, and other relevant skills necessary to actualize the intent of the basic education curriculum.

This initiative is integral in the National Reading and Mathematics Programs which are critic subprograms of the NLRP stipulated in DO O 13, s. 2023.In this article, we will explore the key highlights of the just-concluded INSET sessions and how they contribute to the ongoing professional development of teachers. INSET sessions provided a valuable opportunity for teachers to collaborate with colleagues, share best practices, and build a supportive professional network. Group discussions, workshops, and collaborative projects facilitated the exchange of ideas, ultimately fostering a sense of community among educators.

It has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in equipping educators with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of modern education. As teachers continue to evolve in their roles as facilitators of learning, ongoing professional development initiatives like these contribute significantly to the overall improvement of the education system. The dedication of educators to continuous learning reflects their commitment to providing the best possible education for their students, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
