Grass Fires In La Union Under Probe

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) La Union is conducting a deeper investigation on the two grassfire incidents in Barangays Acao and Calumbaya in Bauang town.
According to the Bauang BFP, firemen responded to a grassfire at 8:27 PM Monday and was able to put off the fire an hour later.
But at 8:35 PM, fire station received another call about an ongoing fire that burned the bamboo at Barangay Calumbaya. Fireout was declared at 1:01 AM the next day.
Firefighters claimed they had a hard time battling the blaze at Barangay Calumbaya because the area is far from the water source.
Although no persons or animals and properties were reported injured nor destroyed from the two fire incidents, the BFP was alarmed that the fast spread of the fire was possibly caused by the smoldering heat being experienced in the area.
