House approves Cordillera State Polytechnic Skills Institute Act

After its approval on second reading last week, the House of Representatives approved House Bill 7264, also known as the Cordillera State Polytechnic Skills Institute (CSPSI) Act, on third and final reading.
“I am glad that this measure has been approved on third and final reading.  We shall work with our Senate counterpart for the measure’s consideration and approval,” said Baguio Rep. Marquez Go who introduced the Bill.
House Bill 7264 integrates the TESDA training centers and TESDA-Supervised State Run Technical-Vocational Institutions (TVIs) in the region. The Baguio School of Arts and Trade and the TESDA Regional Training Center in Baguio shall form the main campus of the Institute. While the TESDA Provincial Training Centers in Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province, and the LGU-run Provincial Training Centers in Apayao shall be converted into extension campuses of the CSPSI.
“The integration of these institutions is a strategic effort to develop highly-skilled and competitive individuals who can fill up employment requirements of the various industries in CAR and the country,” Go said. ABN
