JANUARIUS PRIVATE EQUITY 1 LEADS FIL CHAMPIONSHIP

Januarius Private Equity 1 on Tuesday   scored  149 points  and   posted a commanding 10-point lead in the premiere FIL Championship Flight  in the 74th Januarius Fil-Am Golf Invitational here. Shotmakers  Ian Jert Jet Mathay, Kirby Lachica and Ayon Sanchez, all   submitted sub pars at the par-69  Camp John Hay course  Mathay led  Januarius Private Equity 1 fairway assault ,  sparkled 4-under for 40 points while Lachica and Sanchez had identical  1-under for 37 points. While  Masaichi Masa Otake one-over for 35 points. “My game plan was to be too aggressive to attack. Then my putting got going which made the difference actually,” Mathay told reporters.

“They played well and kept their composure. We expect other teams to play better in the next three days,” said Januarius team manager Paolo Cagalingan. Defending champion Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club 1 , aiming for a 10th straight title was  bit shaky with   139 points mainly on the  efforts of Miko Granada who fired 1-under for  37 points, Enrique Dimayuga even for 36 points, Shinichi Shin Suzuki 34 and Joaquin ‘Jet” Hernandez. Eastridge-Primehomes  carded  139 while  SPES Team 1 134 in the tournament with Januarius Holdings, Inc. as the title sponsor and  supported by A Brown, Eastridge, and Toyota as event presenter while Alveo, Tipsy Pig, Aquatico, Moto Lubricant, Master Siomai, Robinsons Land, and Britanny as backers.

Over at Baguio Country Club (BCC), Batangas Barakos signed  122 points for an  8-point lead in AM Championship flight.  Eastridge-Primehomes Team 2 with 114 followed by Manila Southwoods GC with 113 points.  Batangas Barakos  relied on   Erik Escalona 34,  Charles Serdenia 31, Gerald Katigbak 29 and Eric Gozo 28. Forest Hills 1 came up with a big second round output of 139 points in John Hay layout and  wrest the lead in FIL  A of 266 , a 22 points advantage over first round round leader John Hay GC 1  244 points which could only score 114 in the second round. Team Brookside 1 242 while Leeward Fil-Am GC 229.
