The Municipality of La Trinidad proudly marks this year’s National Children’s Month with the theme, “Break the Prevalence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines.” The local government reaffirms its commitment to advocating for children’s rights, fostering their development, and empowering them as vital contributors to nation-building. In celebration of this occasion, the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC) organized a Children’s Summit on November 19, 2024. Held at the Municipal Gymnasium from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, the summit welcomed participants from all elementary and secondary schools in La Trinidad.

The event featured various activities designed to educate and inspire the youth. Highlights included a forum on children’s rights and responsibilities led by Ms. Palangdao and a discussion on the role of police officers in ensuring community safety, presented by PSSG Charmaine Kay E. Manuel. Additionally, elections were conducted to select representatives for the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), with five representatives chosen from elementary schools and five from secondary schools.

Notably, two exceptional Grade Six students from Buyagan Elementary School, Jael Bisoy (SELG President) and Jasmin Romero (SELG PIO), were elected as LCPC representatives. To prepare them for their roles, Rose Noemi T. Co conducted an orientation on the duties and responsibilities of LCPC members. This celebration underscores the importance of protecting children’s rights and empowers the youth to take active roles in building a safer and more inclusive community.
